I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who strongly believes that true psychological and emotional growth can only occur in a safe environment, which I provide for my clients. Many of us grew up in households where “safety” was not the overriding feeling, and our therapy together can be a truly growth-inspiring experience where that sense of inner-safety can be restored. I work with individual adults and couples, and I also specialize in working with men who are addicted to pornography.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Monica, where I developed my personal therapeutic style of empathic listening, exploring early childhood trauma, and encouraging personal responsibility. I am also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, certified by the International Institute for Trauma & Addiction Professionals.
My therapeutic approach is based in Attachment Theory, which focuses on our earliest childhood experiences to shed light on how we learned to relate to other people. I intuitively use many different modalities of psychotherapy, however, depending on the individual and the course of therapy (Cognitive Behavioral, Psychoanalytic, Gestalt, and others). I experientially teach my clients to bring love and empathy to the patterns they have created in order to protect themselves from being hurt. I believe that true emotional growth requires the development of love and understanding toward one’s self, as well as a strong commitment to making lasting, positive changes in our lives.
